Entering a psychotherapeutic relationship is a choice that takes time to develop as well as choosing the right person to join in your story.

Here are some commonly asked questions and answers.

If there are any more questions, please contact me.

How does virtual and teletherapy work?

Virtual and teletherapy therapy allows patients to interact with a licensed therapist remotely using a secure online platform. You can use a computer, smartphone, tablet, or other internet-enabled device to access the platform and schedule appointments.

How do I make an appointment?

Fill out the contact form, send an email to contact@dglcsw.net, or contact me by telephone at 631-339-0066. A 15 minute phone call will be scheduled and allow us to connect and review your needs.

How is my personal information protected?

As all therapists, I am bound by law to keep the information you share strictly confidential, except when imminent danger of death or severe injury are disclosed. Your digital personal health information will be encrypted and physical copies in a secure location.

Do I need a referral to book an appointment?

Depends on your health insurance. Contacting member services of your coverage will help you gain answers to questions regarding the need for a referral.

How long does psychotherapy last?

Duration depends on your goals and unique situation. As treatment progresses, success will be measured and the recommendation to terminate services will be offered.

How long is each session?

The length of time is usually 55 minutes. It may be decreased depending on the age and tolerance of the Client.

Am I a good candidate for psychotherapy?

I believe everyone may benefit from a therapeutic relationship whether you are hoping to reduce symptoms of severe mental illness or increase daily well being. The treatment will be personalized based on your goals.

What treatment modalities do you use in treatment?

While developing the therapeutic relationship, I will learn what treatment works best for the client. The decision will arise organically as the long term and short term goals are formed in treatment planning.

Are you able to treat all mental health disorders?

As a individual practitioner running my own solo practice offering virtual and telehealth treatment, there are certain needs that require higher levels of services that are out of my reach.
–Complicated suicide risk (to be assessed in the intake session)
– Extreme self-harm
– Anorexia & Bulimia
– Personality Disorders
– Alcoholism or Drug Addiction (to be assessed in the intake session)
– Bipolar 1
– Bipolar 2 (if unmedicated)
– Schizophrenia & psychosis
– Psychiatric hospitalization within the past 12 months (to be assessed in the intake session)

For those who are struggling with financial hardships and appropriate documentation may be provided, we will review a sliding scale rate.

What are your session rates if I am not using coverage from health insurance?

At this time I am not in network for Medicaid or Medicare.  We may review possible sliding scale fees.
